What is APBA?
APBA stands for American Power Boat Association. To find out more about the organization visit their website www.APBA.org
What is Hydroplane boat racing like?
Picture yourself traveling at 60 MPH, not sitting in your 3,000 lb. Chevy, but crouching mere inches above the water, braced in a 125 lb. wooden boat, the wind whistling by your helmet. Your left hand squeezes the throttle; your right hand is glued to the steering wheel. As the boat skims over the surface, your slightest movement affects your ride over the ever-changing contour of the water. Now picture yourself surrounded by as many as 8 other boats, just inches apart. Rough water jolts you and the other boats' spray drenches you; you wait anxiously for your shot to pass your closest opponent, pushing your mind, will, and body to the limit. That’s Stock Outboard Racing in the APBA.
How long is the race 'track'?
Hidden Lakes track will be a 3/4 mile loop. The boats will make 3 - 4 loops before they cross the finish line.
Do you still have more questions?
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Can I get up close and personal?
Absolutely! We will have lots of shoreline and vantage points to view the races. It is recommended you bring lawnchairs for viewing. You must wear close toed shoes if you want to walk through the 'pits' or get close to the boats.
Do you want to learn how to drive a Stock Hydroplane boat?
We will be hosting a driving school on Saturday AM. Class will begin at 8AM and end with you behind the wheel! Cost for lesson is $75. For more information contact email@example.com.
What boat classes will be racing?
There will be 7 different classes racing, ASH, CSH, 300 SSH, CSR, 20Ssh and Vintage Mercury 20H.
